Benefits of fasting
Hi I hope you are well. With Ramadan around the corner, it can be the dreaded time for people to do drastic changes in their daily routine. But in this blog I share the benefits of this religious month.
1. Detoxing
How often have you given your body? Detoxing is a way to cleanse the body of unhealthy toxins in the blood. Give the vital organs a rest of digesting food. Trust me they will thank you later. More importantly choose quality food sources when you open your fast.
2. Gratitude
It is always great to appreciate what you do have and what others don't have. When your going hours without food it is a good time to reflect on others that do not have the same choices as you. (Reflect with Allah to know what he has given you)
3. Bad habits
During Ramadan it is the perfect time to stop ad habits such as; smoking and reducing unhealthy food intake. Doing either or both can reduce cholesterol, energy levels and boost confidence due to improved health.
4. Self-dicipline
Will power and motivation can get you so far, but being self-disciplined will teach you to resist temptation. Having this mindful skill will show you have what it takes in everyday life. So if you are losing weight or wanting to focus on a new career, this shows you have the mindset ready to do anything.
5. Closer to Allah
So for the other 11 months of the years we try our best to be devoted muslims. For some it can be challenging, for others part of everyday life. During Ramadan it is the most sacred time to bring you closer to Allah and find forgiveness for any sins you have done.
6. Weight loss
If done safely/correct it is a great way to intermitting fast to achieve weight loss. You will have to be eating in a calorie deficit when you open up the fast, but eating quality fibre sources, healthy fats, lean protein and controlled carbohydrate intake you have a great excuse to lose weight.
I wish everyone a healthy Ramadan. Remember that these values can help towards your health and fitness goals.
Have a great day
