Importance of posture awareness


In this blog I will be discussing poor upper body posture. Firstly nobody has a perfect posture, but you can work on ways to improve your posture. Most common posture problems occur from everyday living. Most people either work in an office or will be inactive throughout the day. Over time the body can move into an unbalanced posture causing the muscles to become weak, tight and short.


Here are signs to that may suggest your posture needs improving

1.     Stiff shoulders
2.     Neck pain
3.     Tight hips
4.     Back pain
5.     Knee pain
6.     Weak muscle groups

Here is an example of poor posture from working at a desk.


By scratching your back (with both hands) you can test how mobile your shoulders are. See how far you can reach the top of your back. If it is a struggle you may need to improve mobility. Another way is to see if you a wall reach test.

As you can see my mobility needs to be improved lol


So to help with tight shoulders I have a small clip on 3 exercises you can do at work or in the gym to improve mobility and strengthen weaker muscles.

Benefits of increasing shoulder mobility

1.     Reduces tight shoulders
2.     Increases range of motion in the joints
3.     Stops the shoulders from clicking
