5 benefits of protein powder

Whenever someone new hears the words 'protein shake' they instantly think; muscles, steroids, bland etc. With the initial negative perception stuck in your head, it is important to be aware of what benefits good quality protein powder can contribute to. I have listed my top 5 tips why you should use protein powders

1. Fat loss

We all have difficulties preparing meals from time to time. So especially when you are trying to lose body fat being able to make a simple shake that is quick and satisfying. Most protein powders are low calories while also containing minimal sugar.

2. Different variety

You have plant based, whey, mass gainer to name a few, with all different flavours ranging from cookies and cream, banana, double chocolate to name a few. If you want to increase your calories then mass gainer is your choice, if you want to lose weight just protein is the way to go!

Which brand should you choose?
My go to brand ON, it is a very popular choice worldwide and you can get it in Brunei. As long as you pay for the established premium brands, this is where you get to see more reviews.

3. Baking mixture

You can use protein powder to make your favourite cakes. This allows you be adventurous with baking while getting in your protein intake. You can make other sweet treats such as; pancakes, cookies, waffles and smoothies.

Can you lose weight through this?
As long as you track the ingredients you add and know how much you have eaten of course.

4. On the go

Some people know they will struggle to get enough protein during a specific day, so bringing a couple scoops to work or the gym can be the ideal way to top up their protein intake.

Can I have the shake with a meal?
You can, however you must include the calories that you consume if you on a specific calorie goal.

5. Cheap

I know when you buy an tub of protein is can be unappealing as the price is not your regular flour. LOL. However, when you look at the contents of what you pay per scoop vs the same amount of protein you may get from quality meat. You are more likely to save in the long run.

Below is a template to make a protein shake.

p.s. Protein powder should not be used a a complete food replacement. My advice is to get protein from whole soured foods with using protein as a way to get your additional protein intake.
