Is your job making you put on weight?

Is your job making you put on weight?

Working is what we all have to do, but sometimes we can find that our job is doing more harm than good for our health. If your weight is not moving and you find your going the gym 3+ times a week, you may need to look at other lifestyle factors such as your work, that could be preventing fat loss.

Below are my things that could be the reason why the weight won't move...

Snacks

Snacking at work is something we all do. In Brunei people like to bring food in for staff. What you will notice is the little snacks turn into big portions as you keep picking at the table full of sugary treat. These foods will be tasty but will chomping at your calories for the day.

Office job

Sitting down for long periods of time, reduce your daily activity levels. You will end up feeling lethargic. Office jobs are the most common in Brunei. Bad posture could another reason that has led to past injuries.

No set break time

Do you have a set break time? This can be the difference of eating on the go. You may turn to cheap and simple option of fast food restaurants to satisfy your cravings. Before you know it, this becomes your daily routine everyday. This is where the weight slowly starts to move the wrong way.

Time management

Rushing to work everyday is something that tells me, you may not be prepared for the day. More than likely you have not scheduled your daily tasks. Further more you may be missing valuable time to eat  for fat loss.

Stress

Stress is something we all face in our job roles. No matter if it good or bad stress you will see how this will play a part in food cravings. Balancing stress is essential to fat loss.

What should you be doing?

Mini breaks

Take 5 minute breaks to move a little. It will give you chance to get some steps in and be more creative when you get back to work.

Stand at the computer

If you work from a laptop or a desk try replacing your chair for a standing with also raising the height of the desk. This will improve overall posture, while standing also burns more energy than sitting.

Take the stairs

Try switching the lift for the stairs. Climbing stairs burns more calories than walking on the flat ground. Simeon's simple tip... try pushing from your heel rather than your toes. This makes going up the stairs more challenging.

Wake up early

Get up 10 minutes early before work can set you up for the day. You may need to prepare your lunch or even breakfast. Certain tasks for the day can be thought out also. I would recommend getting up early for people who go to bed late also to help them feel tired earlier.

Walk on your break

Nothing beats a good walk, fresh air and a chance to get a proper break from work. If you can walk for 20-30 minutes your doing a great job.

Summary

Being more aware of how active you are at work can play a vital role of how you can increase your daily calorie expenditure. Snacking is the hardest thing o avoid as when food is already laid out in front of you it becomes very tempting. You have to be aware of the food you are consuming and how it will effect your fat loss goals.

Have a great day.
