6 Bad habits that keep the weight on

6 Bad habits that keep the weight on

So you have smashed all your workouts for the week. You step on the scales at the start of a new week, to see nothing has changed. For most people this is the most demotivating thing that can happen. Losing weight for many is seeing changes on the scales. So when you feel you have worked hard and no numbers change, you may need to reassess your lifestyle.

What could be the reason? Here are my bad habits that can stop weight loss

1. Weekends kill you

Some people see exercise and weight loss as a Monday to Friday similar to their job. However, weight loss needs a 24/7 approach where you factor you weekend into your journey. So family events and weekends away have to be included.

2. Give up just before progress

Weight loss is a numbers game. Plateau can play a part in numbers on the scales not moving.  So it is important to keep pushing through plateau. Some tips to try:

1. Have a reward meal
2. Change your workout programme

3. Additional portions

Adding to your plate is very tempting when you are hungry, so when you add the extra spoon of rice to the plate it may topple your progress.

4. Calories too low

It sounds crazy to think eating less food could stop you moving the digits on the scales. But when you drop your calories to low, your metabolism drops too. This places more stress on the body further making it harder to lose weight.

5.Cheat meal or cheat day?

I would look at both of these as a way of getting a ‘reward’. If you see it as a cheat meal you end up feeling slightly guilty or even often resent the food you enjoy to eat. This will make the process of losing weight less enjoyable, leading you to probably quitting. Always remember that you want to know the calories of your reward meal.

6. Know what you eat

It is not easy to track calories, however to understand why the weight does not go down, you need to know what you eat everyday. That means everything! You can write it down and get a fitness professional to go over what you are eating, so you can get tips on what you will need to do going forward.
